How To Use justb And Why
“Before a child can connect with the world, they must connect with their body.”
~ Wise justb Guru
justb celebrates your child.
Every justb class provides an opportunity for children to connect to their bodies, their peers, and their environment. justb increases brain function, strength, aerobic capacity, and body awareness while reducing anxiety and stress. Most importantly, justb helps children feel confident and capable in their own bodies enabling them to fully participate in the world around them.
When should we use justb?
Think of justb as a vitamin, use it to supplement your kids’ holistic learning. Teachers and parents have found success using justb as a way to start the day, start a lesson, or during the day as a brain break to help kids get grounded and refocus. Our biggest piece of advice is to use justb before you really NEED it before a child becomes too dysregulated or emotional. justb may be a helpful tool to organize a child’s sensory system and get them into their body before they are asked to do more complex tasks. Most importantly, explore what works for you.
How often should we practice?
Ideally, justb is used daily as part of your child’s movement routine. We recommend you practice justb at least 3 x a week. justb is designed to be ‘part’ of your child’s movement routine. 3 classes a week ensures that your child will be working on bone strengthening and muscle strengthening enough to meet the minimum CDC requirements.
*CDC, 2021: “Children and adolescents ages 6 through 17 years should do 60 minutes (1 hour) or more of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity each day, including daily aerobic – and activities that strengthen bones (like running or jumping) – 3 days each week, and that build muscles (like climbing or doing push-ups) – 3 days each week.”
How do we choose a class?
justb programs are designed to be self-directed. You and your child can choose your class from a range of themes and styles, or join us for the justb class of the day on our calendar.
Use the course descriptions and class titles as your guide. *Courses are categorized by broader goals and themes and individual classes work on three specific skills.
